The 10th anniversary tour of the musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie, with an all-star cast, telling the true story of drag queen Jamie New.
Everybody's Talking About Jamie comes to the Festival Theatre from Tuesday 16 to Saturday 20 February 2027. It's the 10th anniversary tour of the musical, which returns to the road after a record-breaking three-year West End residency, two sold-out UK and Ireland tours, and an award-winning Amazon Studios film. The production is presented by Nica Burns on behalf of Sheffield Theatres, and the Edinburgh dates are part of a wider UK tour running from 15 January to 24 July 2027.
Billed as a modern-day fairytale, it tells the true story of Jamie New, a sixteen-year-old living on a Sheffield council estate who has a secret to tell. Backed by his brilliant, loving mum and surrounded by friends, he pushes through prejudice and bullies to become a sensation. The show won Best New Musical at the WhatsOnStage Awards, and The Daily Telegraph called it a 'funny, outrageous, touching' musical sensation. This anniversary run adds a brand-new song to the mix, so it's not exactly the same show as the one that first toured.
Ashcon Rahmani takes the title role of Jamie New, with Rebecca Trehearn playing his mum. Kelle Bryan, Joanne Clifton and Divina De Campo share the role of Miss Hedge. Jonathan Butterell directs, with music by Dan Gillespie Sells and lyrics by Tom MacRae. It's recommended for ages 14 and over.
