Musical poetry show in which spoken word sits on original piano and string compositions, with a meet-and-greet after the show.
Ethan Jewell plays Augustine United Church on Monday 23 November, his only Edinburgh date. He's a Dallas, Texas artist who calls what he does 'musical poetry' — spoken word poetry set over original compositions, usually piano or strings, that channel his own struggles with mental health.
It's a specific way of working that lets the words take centre stage. He's released six albums focused on mental health awareness, which have gathered more than 60 million streams, and he's headed two national US tours. Beyond the music, he runs a podcast, feel your feelings with Ethan Jewell, which has reached over a million listens, and he's self-published a poetry book, i feel everything, all the time. The Edinburgh show is billed as an emotional night of poetry and music, with the audience invited to cry and feel their feelings while hearing the songs in person.
