Scottish conference of the Public Health Collaboration Charity on food as a prescription for metabolic health, with talks on diabetes, food addiction, menopause and the ketogenic diet.
Empowering Better Health With Real Food is coming to Ps & Gs (St Paul's & St George's) Church on Friday 6 November, from 8:30 am to 5 pm. It's the third Scottish Conference run by the Public Health Collaboration, a charity that puts food at the centre of metabolic health. The whole day is built around the idea of food as the main prescription, and giving people the tools to take charge of their own health and help others do the same.
The session covers a lot of ground in one day. It ranges from diabetes, food addiction, menopause and mental health to the evolutionary diet and the ketogenic diet, and it mixes practitioners with expert patients. The line-up brings together Moira Newiss, Dr David Unwin, Kate Swaine, Ellen Bennett, Hannah Sutter, Sacha Geeson, Mike Keen, Dr Iain Campbell and Ally Houston.
Moira Newiss has been a PHC Ambassador for five years and has organised the Scottish Conference since it started. She's a former NHS manager turned nutritional therapist and ketogenic specialist, and she's the one who's put this together.
