Workshop to make your own Harris Tweed handbag at the Islander shop, followed by a signature sharing menu for two at Duck & Waffle.
Islander is running a Harris Tweed handbag workshop from their shop on East Market Street, and they've paired it with a meal at Duck & Waffle in the St James Quarter. It's a two-person experience, so it works as a day out with a friend or a gift for someone you'd rather not spend the whole day with alone.
The workshop is the first half. You head to the Islander shop, pick your own colour, cloth, strap and accessories, and build your own Harris Tweed handbag with all the tools provided. You're not just assembling a kit; you're choosing the components yourself, and you carry the finished bag home through the shop's floral entrance. The session takes up to an hour, and it's open to anyone aged 12 and over, with full wheelchair access.
Then there's the food. The meal is at Duck & Waffle in the St James Quarter, which is a signature sharing menu for two: three snacks each, followed by five sharing dishes. Between the workshop and the meal, the full experience can take up to two and a half hours.

The logistics are flexible. The handbag workshop runs seven days a week at 11:00, 12:30, 14:00, 15:30 and 17:00, and the meal is available seven days a week throughout the year, so you can fit it in whenever suits you best. It costs £231 for two people, and the voucher is open-dated, meaning you pick your own date within 12 months of purchase.
