Traditional festive ceilidh night with a live band and a caller, open to beginners and experienced dancers.
Edinburgh Festive Ceilidhs are coming to the Royal British Legion Scotland Edinburgh Central on 18 and 21 December, with a third date on 1 January. They're traditional festive ceilidh nights in the city centre, open to everyone from beginners to experienced dancers. A live band plays the night through and a caller explains every dance, so you don't need any previous knowledge to join in, and the atmosphere stays easy and fun. The room tends to draw a crowd that reflects the city itself, with people arriving from all over the world to dance.
The Royal British Legion Scotland hosts them at its Edinburgh Central branch, a venue that runs regular entertainment: free weekly live music on Saturday evenings, periodic ladies nights on Thursdays, and Sunday afternoon cabaret lunches with live music. These ceilidhs sit alongside the branch's Edinburgh Open House Ceilidhs, so they're part of a wider run of dance nights rather than a one-off. There's a licensed bar on site, and accompanied children must be aged 8 and over.
