Weekly ceilidh night with live Scottish ceilidh bands and a caller, every Tuesday at Summerhall.
The Edinburgh Ceilidh Club is back at Summerhall every Tuesday from 20 October to 22 December 2026, running for 150 minutes each night. It's a ceilidh night that's been welcoming the public since 2005 and now runs every week in the city, so if you've never tried it, there's plenty of chance to get your feet around it.
The format is built for everyone: Scotland's top ceilidh bands play live, and every band brings a caller who teaches the dances throughout the night. That means complete beginners can get to grips with the steps while experienced dancers can push on. It's billed as a way to experience some of Scotland's finest culture while dancing the night away, and the floor is open to anyone from first-time ceilidhers to seasoned regulars. The Summerhall residency is aimed at ages 14 and above, so it's as much for a group of friends as it is for a family outing.
If you're new to it, don't let the 'seasoned regulars' bit put you off. The whole point of the caller is that you don't need to know a single step before you walk through the door; you'll be shown what to do as you go. And because it runs every Tuesday, you can come back week after week and pick up more of the dances as the term rolls on.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Edinburgh and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
