Beginner-friendly workshop to learn about fragrance families and create your own perfume to take home in a glass atomiser.
The Perfume Studio is bringing its Design Your Own Perfume Diamond Experience to the Holyrood Marriott Hotel in Edinburgh on Saturday 12 December. It's a two-hour workshop where you spend the session acting as your own perfumer, guided through the whole process by a professionally trained consultant.
Over the course of the two hours, you'll work your way through fragrance families and individual notes, testing 21 signature blends to find what you actually like. Part of that is learning how scents are classified using the fragrance wheel, so you'll leave with a better handle on why certain smells work together and others don't. Once you've settled on a combination, you bottle your own creation to take home in a glass atomiser. The studio also registers your unique fragrance in its library, so if you run out, you can order refills later.
There's a practical reason the session is built around finding what suits you: perfume is often the first impression people make, and each scent settles differently on the skin. What smells great on a tester strip might change once it's on you, so the whole thing is about figuring out what works for your own chemistry rather than just picking a scent off a shelf. It's designed for beginners, so you don't need to know anything about fragrance before you turn up.
