Turkish pianist Dengin Ceyhan brings his 'Echoes of Anatolia' recital, with Anatolian folk songs, Turkish classical music and film music for solo piano.
Dengin Ceyhan brings his Echoes of Anatolia piano recital to Stockbridge Parish Church on Tuesday 27 October, as part of an intercontinental tour that stops here in Edinburgh. It's a solo piano programme that pulls from the musical heritage of Anatolia, and the range is wider than you might expect from a single instrument: it runs from traditional Anatolian folk songs and Turkish classical music through to iconic film scores and Turkish rock, all reimagined for the piano.
Ceyhan himself has a long history with the instrument. Born on 10 July 1991 in Antakya, Hatay, he started playing at eight and entered the Piano Department of Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory in 2002. He studied there under Prof. Dr. Binnur Ekber and stayed on to complete his secondary, high school, undergraduate, and master's education, so the recital comes from a lifetime of training in the Turkish classical tradition.
