A concert of West End and Broadway songs, including numbers from Wicked and Les Misérables, performed by a cast of vocalists and an all-female band.
Defying Gravity - West End Women comes to Usher Hall on Wednesday 24 February 2027, a night built around the women who've made their mark on the West End stage. It's a celebration of the female voices that have shaped the London theatre scene, and the evening is structured as much around the stories as the songs.
The set pulls from the best-loved numbers of the West End and Broadway, with Wicked, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia and Waitress among the shows represented. Those are the big names, but the list stretches further, bringing together a good range of musical theatre from different eras and styles. The songs are performed by a cast of vocalists backed by an all-female band, so the whole thing stays on theme from the front of the stage to the back.
It isn't just a concert, though. Between the songs, the evening threads in backstage anecdotes and insights into the world of West End women, giving a bit of context to the voices and the roles. It's that mix of performance and storytelling that sets it apart from a standard tribute night.

Doors open at 18:30 at Usher Hall on Lothian Road, and seats are £26-£35 face value, plus a booking fee. A couple of practical things to keep in mind: the venue's age policy admits over-8s only, and under-16s have to be accompanied by an adult.
