Seasonal sound bath session led by Elspeth with meditation, breathing and affirmations, using Native American flute, drum and Tibetan and crystal bowls.
Elspeth is hosting a Deep Rest Sound Bath at St Anne's Church in Corstorphine on Sunday 15 November, starting at 19:30. It's about 90 minutes long, and it's part of a series of seasonal sound baths she runs throughout the year.
During the session, Elspeth works with a monolini, a Native American flute, a drum, and both Tibetan and crystal bowls. She guides the whole thing with meditation, breathing and affirmations, which she says are there to help you connect with your inner wisdom. She describes the effect of sound vibrations played at certain frequencies as something that can reduce stress, improve concentration and focus, support the immune system, lower blood pressure and improve sleep. People who've been before have called it 'totally relaxing and mindful' and said it helped them get their best sleep.
As for how you'll spend the time, you can either sit in a chair or lie on an inflatable mat on the floor. There are zero-gravity recliner chairs available too, if you'd prefer one of those. Tea and refreshments are served at the end and are included in the price. It's worth keeping in mind that the session isn't suitable for anyone in their first trimester of pregnancy, or for those with sound-induced epilepsy, unmanaged bipolar or psychosis, and you shouldn't come under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.
