Exhibition by David Remfry at Dovecot Studios, the tapestry studio and gallery in Edinburgh.
David Remfry is coming to Dovecot Studios on Sunday 21 February 2027 with David Remfry: In Residence, an exhibition that puts his work at the centre of the studio's gallery. It's a proper residency, so he's not just hanging a few pieces and leaving; the whole show is built around him.
If you're not familiar with the venue, Dovecot Studios is a world-renowned tapestry studio and gallery right here in Edinburgh. It's a place that takes the medium seriously, and its programme reflects that. They've brought the full scale of the Bayeux Tapestry to Scotland in Bayeux on the Balcony, and they've looked at the past, present and future of the craft in Beyond Bayeux: Tapestry Now at London's Guildhall Art Gallery. It's a studio that works across the whole breadth of the form, from historical recreations to contemporary practice.
That tapestry focus runs through more than just the exhibitions. The studio also runs the Scottish Tapestry Trail, shaped by artist and activist Andrew Crummy, and The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry, a two-year journey taken by Jenny Bruce around the world as a homage to Scottish migrants and their descendants. So when they host an artist in residence, it's within a space that knows its way around the loom and the gallery floor.
