Free one-day conference for professionals working with the Microsoft data platform, with delivered work from public bodies and lunch included.
Data Day Edinburgh is back at the COSLA Conference Centre on Friday 23 October, its sixth Edinburgh edition. It's a community-led, free one-day conference run by Thomas Sykes and Abhi Jayanty, and it sits within the global Data Day series. The day is built for people who work mostly with the Microsoft data platform — Azure, SQL Server, Power BI, Fabric and Databricks — but it doesn't stop there. It also covers the wider data ecosystem, including Postgres, open-source tooling and artificial intelligence.
The focus is on delivered work rather than strategy. You'll hear about services, pipelines and analysis actually running inside councils, health boards, government bodies and partner organisations. That's the specific thing that sets it apart: it's about what's been shipped inside a public body, not a high-level pitch or a theoretical case study. The audience reflects that, too — analysts, data engineers, service designers and policy staff all in the same room. The mix shapes the questions that come after each session, and the whole day is pitched as a rare chance to hear what people have actually built and put into production within the public sector.
