A contemporary dance evening featuring works by Jemma Stein, Untold Productions, Frantics Tanz and Cia Laia Santanach, exploring themes of home and community.
Dance Horizons: Innovations returns to the Studio Theatre on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November, with both nights starting at 7:30pm. It's a mixed bill that pairs Scottish artists with international guests from Spain and Germany, four works in one evening that together look at home, belonging, connection and community.
The line-up opens with Home Sweet Home by Scotland's Jemma Stein, followed by Blokowisko from Untold Productions, who work across England and Poland. From there it's Ordinary People by Germany's Frantics Tanz, and JARANA by Cia Laia Santanach from Spain. The four pieces move from the pressures of urban life and housing inequality to disappearing traditions and collective celebration, so the night covers a fair bit of ground.
On stage, contemporary dance sits alongside breaking, with live music, immersive video and innovative lighting woven through. Critics have called it 'infectious fun' and 'a daring, dynamic showcase', and the whole thing is supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
