60-minute workshop to make your own Islander Harris Tweed handbag, for two, with a traditional Scottish tasting platter at The Tolbooth Tavern.
Islander is running a Harris Tweed® handbag workshop at their Edinburgh shop, and on Tuesday 27 October, it's paired with a traditional Scottish tasting platter at The Tolbooth Tavern. It's a two-for-one sort of day: you spend an hour making a bag, then head over to the tavern for a proper Scottish spread.
The workshop itself takes 60 minutes, and you build your handbag from the ground up. You pick the colour of the bag, the Harris Tweed® cloth lid, the strap, and the accessories, and then assemble it with the tools provided on the bench. It's not a kit you just put together; you're choosing the parts and doing the work yourself. When it's finished, you get to pose with it outside the Islander Workshop under the floral entrance before taking it home as a 'Made in Scotland' souvenir.
It's set up for two people to do together, so it works as a date or a day out with a friend. The workshop is suitable for ages 12 and over, which keeps it open for families too. The tasting platter at The Tolbooth Tavern adds the food side of things, so you've got the making and the eating sorted in one go.

Practical side: the workshop runs seven days a week, with slots at 11:00, 12:30, 14:00, 15:30, and 17:00, so you can fit it in whenever suits you best. It's £145 for two participants, and the voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, which gives you plenty of time to pick your date.
