Cosmic Dance open house

Cosmic Dance are opening their doors at Broughton St Marys Parish Church on Saturday 28 November, from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. It's a rare look inside a Bharatanatyam dance school, and the morning is set up as a social session rather than a formal performance.

Bharatanatyam is a South Indian classical dance form that brings together rhythm, movement, expression and storytelling, usually performed to live music. If you've never come across it before, this is a good way to see how it works from the inside. You can explore what goes on behind the scenes, take a free open multilevel class, and watch short performances throughout the morning. You don't need any previous experience to join in, and there's no pressure to sign up or commit to a class afterwards.

The morning is built around the social side of things: there's a welcome and a chance to meet the dancers at the start, and a meet-and-mingle at the end. It's organised by Cosmic Dance and supported by the City of Edinburgh Council and the Fair Saturday Edinburgh Community Engagement Fund.

It runs from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at Broughton St Marys Parish Church, 12 Bellevue Crescent, Edinburgh EH3 6NE. Entry is free of charge, though attendees are asked to donate towards the Gracemount Mansion development trust.
