Festive baking class for children at the Edinburgh Food & Drink Academy to make seasonal treats and take them home with the recipes.
Edinburgh Food & Drink Academy is running a Children's Christmas Baking Class on Tuesday 22 December, starting at 09:30. It's aimed at kids, who get stuck into festive baking and pick up new kitchen skills while learning how to make seasonal treats. They take home everything they bake, along with the recipes, so there's something to show for the morning.
The class is held at the Academy, which is set in a Georgian townhouse in the heart of the city centre. It spans five floors and looks out across the Firth of Forth. It's a proper culinary school: they train professional chefs and run short courses for keen amateurs, students and food enthusiasts, and the building houses a fully equipped teaching kitchen, a demonstration theatre that seats 50, and a function room.
This baking class is part of a wider run of festive workshops the Academy is putting on around the same time. Alongside it, they're running sessions on Christmas canapés, gingerbread house making and Christmas cake decorating, so if you've got a few different interests to keep in mind, you can pick the one that fits best. They pitch the whole thing as a way to spend time with friends and family and meet new baking buddies.
