Beginner-friendly workshop to print designs on tote bags, tea towels or cushion covers using traditional wooden blocks, part of the C3R project.
The Edinburgh Remakery is hosting a Block Printing on Textiles workshop on Wednesday 21 October, from 10:45 am to 1:00 pm. It's a morning session that takes you through the basics of block printing, where you'll make your own textile designs using traditional wooden blocks, inks and a few simple techniques. You'll be printing onto items like tote bags, tea towels or cushion covers, and you get to take home whatever you make.
There's a bit more to it than just a craft morning, though. The session is run by the Edinburgh and Lothians Regional Equality Council (ELREC) in collaboration with Remakery as part of the Communities Reduce, Reuse & Recycle (C3R) project. C3R works with ethnic minority communities to raise awareness about climate change and promote sustainability through creative workshops, so this one fits right into that — taking something old or plain and making it your own rather than buying something new. It's open to everyone, including beginners, and it's suitable for ages 14 and over, so you don't need any prior experience to get involved.

Light refreshments are provided on the day, which is a nice touch for a mid-morning session. The workshop runs at The Edinburgh Remakery, 13A Newkirkgate, Leith EH6 6AD, from 10:45 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday 21 October. It's currently sold out.
