Wine tasting masterclass by Being Wineful that walks through seven wines from Greece, with interviews from Greek winemakers.
Being Wineful is hosting a masterclass on Greek wines at Le Petit Raisin on Thursday 29 October, from 7pm to 9pm. It's a tasting that works its way through seven different wines, all brought back from Greece by Keira, who runs the session. The whole thing is presented by Being Wineful Limited, and the focus is on those seven bottles rather than a broad survey of the region.
What sets this one apart from a standard tasting is the backstory. While she was in Greece, Keira had the rare chance to interview two winemakers, and that's where the context for the evening comes from. Instead of just tasting the wines in a vacuum, the session walks you through the selection with those conversations in mind, so you get a sense of the people and the places behind what's in the glass. It's a guided tour of the seven wines, one after the other, rather than a random sampling.
If you're not usually one for wine classes, this is a good place to start. It's a tasting that walks you through the selection, so you don't need to come with any particular knowledge of Greek grapes to get something out of it. You'll taste seven wines over two hours, with the stories from the winemakers filling in the gaps between pours.
