An inclusive, family-friendly theatre show about friendship and Christmas from the award-winning children's theatre company Frozen Charlotte.
Bananas for Christmas runs at Studio Theatre from Thursday 17 December to Thursday 31 December, a family show from the award-winning children's theatre company Frozen Charlotte. It's an inclusive, welcoming celebration of friendship, fun and the magic of Christmas, put together for children and their families, friends, schools and nurseries. Frozen Charlotte pitch it as their alternative to pantomime for younger audiences.
The story follows a pair of banana-loving beach-dwellers whose life is mellow and yellow until one of them goes a bit bananas. It's a riotously silly show full of festive cheer, and it runs about 45 minutes with no interval, so it's suitable for ages 3 and over. On stage are Lewie Watson and Megan Lovat, directed by Heather Fulton.
There's a bit of a wider story to this one. It was co-commissioned by Aberdeen Performing Arts, Capital Theatres and Eden Court Highlands, and awarded a Wee Ones Winter Commission. It forms part of a three-year run: it premiered at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness in December 2025, plays Edinburgh in December 2026 and is due at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen in 2027.
