The National Theatre's stage adaptation of Noel Streatfeild's classic, with Anton Du Beke as Great Uncle Matthew, on tour.
Ballet Shoes comes to the Edinburgh Playhouse from Tuesday 19 October to Saturday 23 October 2027. It's The National Theatre's stage adaptation of Noel Streatfeild's classic, which follows three sisters adopted into an unconventional family who have to figure out who they want to be in a society not yet ready to embrace ambitious young women. The story is set in a crumbling house full of dinosaur bones and fossils, and it was reimagined for the stage by award-winning playwright Kendall Feaver, who also wrote The Almighty Sometimes, with direction by Katy Rudd, who did The Ocean at the End of the Lane.
It's a National Theatre production, so it's coming to us after a 2025 London season at the National. From there it's heading out on a major UK and Ireland tour that runs through 2027 and into 2028, with a limited run at London's Sadler's Wells Theatre along the way. The show earned five stars during its run.
