Beginner-friendly, no-sew workshop to design and handcraft your own unique bag charm with festive craft techniques.
John Lewis Edinburgh is hosting a Bag Charm Making Workshop on Friday 20 November, from 11:00 to 12:30. It's a ninety-minute session where you design and handcraft your own bespoke bag charm under professional instruction, and it forms part of their 'Hands-On Christmas Craft Workshops' collection — a series of festive classes meant to get shoppers into the Christmas spirit.
Over the course of the morning, you'll be guided through the steps of designing and making your own unique charm, working with beads, fabrics, charms, cords and tassels. Along the way, you'll pick up a few simple techniques: beading, macramé, fabric plaiting, and how to make bows and tassels. It's pitched as a no-sew, beginner-friendly and sustainable activity that needs no prior experience, so you don't need to have ever picked up a needle or a piece of cord to get stuck in.
The session is framed as either a bit of festive self-care or a way to make a handmade gift for someone else, and the result is something you'll have made yourself from start to finish. It's a morning of making rather than a lecture, so you'll spend the time actually working on your charm rather than just watching someone else do it.
