Free ranger-led moderate walk around Arthur's Seat on Holyrood Park, tracing the hill's history from seven thousand years ago to the present.
Arthur's Secrets is a ranger-led walk around Arthur's Seat, the main feature of Holyrood Park. It's an 823-foot hill east of the city centre, surrounded by smaller peaks and ponds, with the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Scottish Parliament Building as its backdrop. The route follows the hill's turbulent past, shaped by fire and ice, and takes in the people who have lived and worked in the Park from seven thousand years ago up to the present day, as well as the rare wildlife that makes it special.
It's a moderate-grade walk over rough tracks and uneven, boggy terrain with steep inclines and declines, so it's not for the faint-hearted. It isn't suitable for children under 12, and dogs aren't permitted except assistance dogs. You'll meet at the Broad Pavement Car Park (EH8 8AZ), and from there you'll head up into the Park.
