Playful arm balance yoga workshop led by Q Queer Yoga Edinburgh, open to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community.
Q Queer Yoga Edinburgh are running an Arm Balance Playshop at Collective Space on Sunday 8 November, from 12:00 to 14:00. It's a two-hour session led by Meg (she/they) and Adri (they/them), and it's open to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community, whether you're brand new to arm balances or you've been practising them for a while.
The session spends time on the foundations that underpin most arm balances: how to set up safely, how to shift your weight, and which muscles to engage. From there, it looks at how to use props for support, so you can find the options that work for your own body rather than trying to fit into a one-size-fits-all version of a pose. Meg and Adri walk the group through Crow (Kakasana) and other arm balances, and the whole thing closes with a restorative cool down.
It's framed as a zero-tolerance space for transphobia, homophobia, racism, ableism and body shaming. One practical thing to keep in mind: the venue isn't wheelchair accessible. The studio is on the lower ground floor and reached via a 16-step staircase.
