High-energy session of Scottish traditional music and ceilidh dancing called by Tricia, with a complimentary drink before the dancing.
Annasach are back at The Counting House on Friday 30 October, another one of their regular ceilidh nights in the ballroom. The band describes the evenings as high-energy, with great tunes and all the dances called, so beginners are very welcome. If you've never done a ceilidh before, that's the key part: the caller explains the steps for each dance before it starts, so you don't need to know anything to get involved.
That caller is Tricia, and she's a good reason to come along if you're a novice. People who've been to these nights have singled her out for properly teaching the steps, rather than the half-arsed approach some callers take. Between her and the band, you're looked after whether you're a seasoned dancer or just turning up to see what the fuss is about.
There's a nice little extra to start the night, too. Each ticket comes with a complimentary Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky or a soft drink to have before the dancing kicks off. The Counting House is a bit of a hidden gem in Edinburgh's Old Town, and it's become the home of Annasach's regular sessions, so this is part of a steady run of nights rather than a one-off.

Doors open at 7.30pm, with the music starting at 8pm. Tickets are £15 as an e-ticket, with a small number available on the door, so it's worth booking ahead if you're planning to be there. The venue is cashless and the bar closes at midnight, so keep that in mind if you're planning a few drinks across the evening. The Counting House is at 36 West Nicolson Street, EH8 9DD.
