Season 6 of AMPLIFI, The Queen's Hall's series on the sounds of modern Scotland, with emerging artists Jaz Riley, Khalid Al Khajah and Tayoh.
Jaz Riley, Khalid Al Khajah and Tayoh play The Queen's Hall on Wednesday 11 November, as part of AMPLIFI. It's the hall's own gig series, now in its sixth season, and it's built around showcasing the sounds of modern Scotland. The three artists on the bill are all emerging names, and their music crosses indie-folk, indie-pop and R&B, so the night pulls from a few different corners of the city's current scene rather than sticking to one sound.
Jaz Riley is a queer POC singer-songwriter based here in Edinburgh, originally from a coastal town near Newcastle. Their work is rooted in acoustic sounds, and they've been playing guitar for more than ten years. They write honest, intimate songs inspired by nature and personal experience, so the set sits on the quieter, more stripped-back end of the indie-folk spectrum. Khalid Al Khajah and Tayoh round out the bill, and between the three of them the evening moves from folk through to indie-pop and R&B.
