Piano concert by classical-soul artist Alexis Ffrench at The Queen's Hall in Edinburgh.
Alexis Ffrench plays The Queen's Hall on Wednesday 21 April 2027, with the concert starting at 8:00pm. He's a pianist working in what he calls classical soul, a sound that doesn't sit neatly in one genre, time period or expectation. He's built a huge following around it — well over a billion streams worldwide, multiple No.1 albums and a Gold record in the US for his single 'Bluebird'.
By the time he reaches Edinburgh, his latest album 24 will have been out for a few months; it's due in October 2026 and is framed as a companion to the clockwork regularity of everyday life, with 24 pieces guiding listeners from dawn to dusk. He's also recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of his debut, Piano Diaries, so there's a good chance the set will draw from both ends of his career.
Outside of performing, Ffrench is heavily involved in music education. He's the first Artistic Director in the 133-year history of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), a Trustee, Governing Body Member and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in London, and an Honorary Fellow of Homerton College, Cambridge. His Classic FM series Music To Live By looks at how classical music lifts mood and inspires genres close to his heart, from pop ballads to hip-hop.
