Live show by Alas de Liona, singer-songwriter from the Mojave Desert, at People's Leisure Club, over-18s only.
Alas De Liona plays People's Leisure Club on Thursday 29 October, an album launch and Halloween party that marks her first full-time move to Scotland. The night is built around Gravity of Gold, the 11-song album she recorded with producer Rod Jones. Its first single, 'Analogy', came out on 17 May on her own label, Deli Owner Records.
It's a long way from where she started. Alas De Liona hails from a small town in the Mojave Desert and first came to Scotland to complete a university course, which is where her talent for dreamy songs and eloquent lyrics emerged. She spent time playing local pubs before returning in 2001 to record the Radio Astronomy EP, and then twice more in 2002. After those early recordings, she moved from the US to live in Scotland full-time in the summer of 2023, and Gravity of Gold is the result of that transition.

She's not a complete stranger to the Scottish stage, either. Over the years she's opened for Kathryn Joseph, Rufus Wainwright, The Proclaimers, Hamish Hawk and Travis, so the new album arrives with a fair bit of ground already covered. The launch is on Thursday 29 October at People's Leisure Club, 45 Lothian St, with the music starting at 7:30 PM. One thing to keep in mind: the show is for over-18s only.
