Live Afrobeat heats of the nationwide Afro-Scottish talent search Afrosymphony, with performances by Edinburgh artists and an MC and DJ.
Afrosymphony: The Edinburgh Heats comes to Cabaret Voltaire on Sunday 1 November, from 19:30 to 22:00. It's part of a nationwide search for Scotland's next Afro-Scottish music talent, and this is Phase 2: the live heats. The night leans on big vocals and Afrobeat energy, with live performances from Edinburgh's emerging artists.
On the bill are Francis Bondd, LOLA!, Rue Cooper, Ay Bangz and Memory Zaranyika, with MC Kouk and DJ Rawzi on the mic and decks. The three acts that progress from the heats will record new tracks with DJ and producer Auntie Flo in December, and then perform them with a live orchestra at the Govan Music Festival in Glasgow in March. The night is supported by Creative Scotland through the Scottish Government's Expanded Festivals Fund and will be filmed as part of the selection process.
