Fifteen-minute lunchtime meditation session with a short teaching and two guided meditations led by Kelsang Varahi.
Kadampa Meditation Centre Edinburgh runs 15-minute lunchtime meditations on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 12.30 to 12.45pm. It's a short, focused session that fits right into a lunch break, so you can step away from the desk and be back in time for the afternoon.
Buddhist nun Kelsang Varahi leads the class, starting with a short teaching followed by two guided meditations. The sessions are built around the wisdom of The New Eight Steps to Happiness by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, so there's a bit of a theme to work with rather than just sitting in silence. If you've never meditated before, the guided part does the heavy lifting for you.
The centre is at 172 Leith Walk, and it's been open since 2018 as a place of peace in the heart of the city. It's open five days a week and houses a range of study and meditation programmes, a bookshop and a meditation room, and everybody is welcome to attend a class. These lunchtime sessions are just one part of what they do there.
