Interactive musical matinee recreating Dorothy's adventure from Kansas to Oz, with audience members joining the story.
The Playmakers are bringing The Wizard of Oz to Dazzle on Saturday, October 17, as part of their Kids' Matinee series. It's a live, interactive musical recreation of Dorothy's journey from Kansas to Oz, and the whole thing is built around getting the audience involved rather than just watching from a seat.
A professional actress plays Dorothy and leads the way, recruiting people from the crowd to step up and star as her traveling companions and as various Ozian characters. Everyone else helps in from their seats as munchkins, guards, and citizens of the Emerald City, so even if you're not on stage, you're still part of the story. It's aimed at kids aged 5 to 16, and the whole thing is pitched as a stress-free, joy-filled birthday-party space with live music and plenty of food and sweet treats like ice cream. There's an open kitchen and bar with a special kid's menu, too.
