Two foxes in costume solve art mysteries in the museum galleries with storytelling and imaginative play for young children.
Foxy and Shmoxy: Art Detectives is back at the Denver Art Museum on Sunday, November 8, as part of a series that runs throughout the school year. The show is built for young children, with two foxes in costume solving art mysteries right in the museum galleries. It's a storytelling format that uses humor to get kids looking at art in a way they might not otherwise: each visit focuses on a different artwork, and the duo relies on imagination, play, and a magic magnifying glass to uncover clues and surprising discoveries. Every session brings a brand-new mystery, so if you go more than once, you'll find a different case to crack each time.
Adults are invited along too. The show encourages laughter, curiosity, and audience participation, so grown-ups and children end up looking closely, asking questions, and experiencing art in fun, unexpected ways together. It's less of a performance to watch from a distance and more of a shared activity.

Behind the scenes, the program was created by Jessica Robblee, Mitch Slevc, and Lindsay Genshaft, with Mitch Slevc and Jose Zuniga starring as the two foxes. The series runs on the second Sunday of every month during the school year: October 11, November 8, December 13, 2026, and January 10, February 14, March 14, April 11 and May 9, 2027. Each session runs twice, at 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM, so you can pick the time that works best for your morning. The program goes on hiatus from June through September. Admission is included in general admission to the museum.
