A grand celebration of holiday music with the Dallas String Quartet, dance, and SMU Ballet, raising funds to purchase 100 violins for children.
The Dallas String Quartet is back at the Winspear Opera House on Friday, December 11, for The Gifts of Christmas, a holiday show that brings together a lot more than just strings. They're returning to the venue after last year's holiday concert, and this time they've brought a full supporting cast: Q The Band, Sons of Serendip, Bianca Ryan, the Youth Choir of Preston Center Dance, and the SMU Ballet. It's a big bill for one night, and the program reflects that, mixing Christmas classics and cinematic holiday favorites with vocals, choreography, and visual production. The whole thing runs about two hours with an intermission.
If you're not familiar with the quartet, they're a Grammy-nominated crossover ensemble and one of the most streamed in the world, with over 50 million plays on Spotify. They landed their first Grammy nomination in 2025 and topped the Billboard Classical Album chart with ROMANI: The Untold Story, which they recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. Their reach goes beyond the classical world, too—they've played at the wedding of Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton and released a Pokémon theme back in September. The show is produced by IMZ Artists.
There's a charitable side to the evening as well. Beyond the music, the concert is raising funds to buy 100 violins for children, with the goal of giving the gift of music to the next generation. So your ticket does a bit more than just get you a seat.
