A Cultivate event showcasing ornamental pumpkins and squash varieties for sale, with market-style vendors, part of the Dallas Arboretum's autumn traditions.
The Pumpkin & Squash Show and Sale runs from October 16 to 18 at A Tasteful Place inside the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. It's part of the Arboretum's Cultivate series, and the whole thing is built around heirloom squash and rare specialty pumpkins. If you're into autumn displays, tablescapes, or just getting something for the kitchen, this is where you'll find the varieties that aren't exactly standard grocery store fare.
The show is tucked inside the wider Pumpkin Village, which is one of the city's biggest seasonal traditions. More than 100,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash fill the 66-acre grounds along White Rock Lake, and the display takes its cues from modern and contemporary art. There are six Pumpkin Houses reimagining the work of Basquiat, Rothko, Bourgeois, Mondrian, Escher, and Pollock, plus giant 'Harvest Hues' letters by Dallas muralist Alli K. Fodor. Travel named it one of the 'Best Pumpkin Festivals in America.'
Those pumpkins travel 327 miles from Pumpkin Pyle, a family-run farm in Floydada, Texas, known as the 'Pumpkin Capital of the USA.' The show itself has a market-style energy, with vendors on site. The lineup includes Enid B, Hannah Siegwart Art, Hecho De Coffee, LesDishes, Nut Naturally, Pepper & Thyme, and Rachel Goodman Artwork.
