Beginner-friendly hands-on workshop to create your own Turkish mosaic lamp using colorful glass tiles and beads, with Turkish coffee and baklava.
Apprentice Creative Space is hosting a Mosaic Lamp Workshop on Saturday, October 17, in downtown Dallas. It's a hands-on session where you make your own Turkish mosaic lamp from scratch, and you get to take it home when you're done.
The workshop centers on Turkish mosaic art, a craft with a long history and tradition. You start by picking a lamp style and a color scheme, then build your design using colorful Turkish glass tiles and beads. Professional mosaic artists guide you step by step through the process, so you don't need any prior art or craft experience to get through it. Because you're choosing your own colors and arranging the tiles yourself, every lamp comes out unique to the person who made it.
There's a bit of Turkish hospitality woven into the session, too: complimentary Turkish coffee and traditional baklava are served while you work. All the materials and tools you'll need are included, and the finished table lamp is yours to take home at the end. It's pitched as a beginner-friendly experience to share with friends, family, or coworkers, so it works as a group activity as much as a solo project.
