A concert by Lyle Lovett and his Small Large Band at the Winspear Opera House, blending country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues.
Lyle Lovett brings his Small Large Band to the Winspear Opera House on Wednesday, November 18, 2026. It's a Texas-sized homecoming for a singer, composer, and actor who's spent more than four decades broadening the definition of American music across 14 albums.
Lovett is from Klein, Texas, and he's built a career on a sound that defies easy categorization. He blends country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel, and blues in a way that's hard to pin to one genre, which earned him the nickname 'the thinking man's cowboy.' Since his self-titled debut in 1986, he's become one of the most vibrant and iconic performers of his generation. The accolades back that up: four Grammy Awards, the Americana Music Association's inaugural Trailblazer Award, and the title of Texas State Musician. He's also acted in numerous films and guest-starred on television, so he's as comfortable in front of a camera as he is on a stage.
For this show, he's performing with his Small Large Band, the ensemble that gives the night its title. The venue is the Winspear Opera House, part of the AT&T Performing Arts Center at 2403 Flora Street in Dallas. The hall is known for its acoustics and its cozy horseshoe configuration, which seats up to 2,200 guests. It's a good fit for a performer who can pivot from a quiet folk song to a full-band swing number without missing a beat.
