Crossover thrash band D.R.I. perform live at Trees in Dallas.
Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (D.R.I.) play Trees on Thursday, December 3, 2026. They're a crossover thrash band that started in Houston back in 1982 before moving to San Francisco, and they've spent the decades since blending hardcore punk and thrash metal into something that a lot of other bands picked up and ran with. Suicidal Tendencies, Corrosion of Conformity, Stormtroopers of Death, the Cro-Mags, Nuclear Assault, Adrenalin O.D., and Cryptic Slaughter all come from that same crossover soil, and D.R.I. is usually counted as one of the main pioneers of the whole sound.
These days the band is down to founding members lead vocalist Kurt Brecht and guitarist Spike Cassidy, with bassist Greg Orr and drummer Danny Walker. They've put out seven full-length studio albums, though none since Full Speed Ahead in 1995, and they've toured almost every year despite a few gaps—the biggest being between 2004 and 2009 when Cassidy was diagnosed with colon cancer. There's also an eighth full-length album that's been in the works since the late 1990s and still hasn't come out.
