The Dallas Symphony Orchestra performs Michael Giacchino's score from the film UP, with the movie shown on the big screen, conducted by Enrico Lopez-Yanez.
Disney and Pixar's UP in Concert comes to the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center over three performances: Friday, Feb. 26, Saturday, Feb. 27, and Sunday, Feb. 28. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra performs Michael Giacchino's score live to the film as it plays on the big screen, so you get the movie and the music together in the same room. Enrico Lopez-Yañez conducts the orchestra, and he's the Creative Director and Principal Conductor of Pops and Specials for the DSO.
If you've seen Up, you know the story: Carl Fredricksen is a 78-year-old balloon salesman who lifts his house into the sky with thousands of balloons and ends up with an 8-year-old stowaway named Russell. The two set off on a journey through a lost world, and Giacchino's Academy Award-winning score carries the whole thing. Hearing it played live by a full orchestra while the movie runs on the screen is a different experience from watching it at home with speakers.
This is part of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's 2026/27 Movies in Concert series, a season that pairs the orchestra with guest artists, movies in concert, and new immersive works, with Lopez-Yañez fronting the pops and specials side of things. The Up performances are three of those movie nights.
