Hands-on workshop with instructor Nicole Tabit to make an evergreen winter wreath from greenery, berries and cones, with all supplies provided.
Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is hosting a morning wreath workshop on Friday, December 5, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's held over in the Wells Barn, so you'll be working inside the conservatory grounds rather than out in the elements. The session is open to all ages, which makes it an easy one to bring a kid or a friend along for.
The workshop is hands-on: you'll work with winter greenery, berries, and cones to build an evergreen wreath from the ground up, then finish it off with seasonal decor, picks, and bows. All the supplies are provided, so you don't need to bring anything but yourself. They'll also have hot chocolate and tea on hand to keep things cozy while you work, and gloves are available if you're someone who doesn't like the feel of the greenery on your hands.
Leading the session is Nicole Tabit, the Adult Program Manager at the Conservatory. She holds a degree in Natural Resource Management and Visitors Services from The Ohio State University, and she describes her approach as tying natural elements into her art projects—basically combining a love of the outdoors with the arts. That's a good summary of what this is: a morning spent working with actual winter plants to make something you can hang on your door.
