Violin and Viola Studios Recital

The Violin and Viola Studios Recital comes to Timashev Recital Hall on Thursday, November 12. It's a student showcase from the Ohio State viola and violin studios, so the program brings together players from both sides of the string family rather than keeping them separate. Juliet White-Smith and Andrii Isakov are the main features of the evening, and they'll be joined by other students from the studios.

Because it's a studio recital, you'll hear a range of pieces rather than a single cohesive set. The violin and viola students each bring their own selections to the stage, and the two instruments share the spotlight throughout the night. It's a good way to hear how the two sounds sit together, with the violin's higher register and the viola's deeper, warmer tone playing off each other.

The recital is free and open to the public, so you don't need a ticket to get in. It's held at Timashev Recital Hall, located at 1900 College Rd N in Columbus, OH 43210. If you're in the city and want to catch some live strings, this is a low-stakes way to spend a Thursday evening.
