Free public concert by the Ohio State Show Band, directed by Shawn Wallace, performing music of Earth, Wind & Fire and DeBarge.
The Ohio State Show Band plays Timashev Recital Hall on Sunday, November 1, from 6 PM to 8 PM. They're spending the evening on the music of Earth, Wind & Fire and DeBarge, two names that should tell you exactly where the night is headed.
The Show Band is a commercial ensemble directed by Shawn Wallace, and this performance is presented by the Ohio State University School of Music. The school describes itself as a vibrant community exploring the transformative nature of music — its past, present, and future. That's a broad way of putting it, but the program here is specific: a full set of EW&F and DeBarge, the kind of music that's built for a live band to work through.
If you're planning to go, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. The concert is free and open to the public, and you don't need a ticket to get in. Parking is available at Arps Garage, north of the Timashev Music building, and at the Ohio Union South Garage, south of the building. It's a Sunday evening show, so you can just show up and find a seat.
