Indie pop show by Valencia Grace, a British-born, transatlantic-raised multi-instrumentalist, at Rumba Cafe.
Valencia Grace plays Rumba Cafe on Thursday, March 11, 2027. The Columbus date is presented by Celebrity Etc.
Grace is a British-born, transatlantic-raised indie pop artist who describes her work as pushing pop toward a darker, more theatrical edge. She's a multi-instrumentalist and a dynamic performer, and the songs she's put out so far run in a lot of different directions. Her first release, En Repeat, was built around a haunting loop rooted in the Phrygian mode. That was followed by The Holy Trinity, a queer anthem driven by a disco string quartet. Then came Everything Reminds Me of You, an indie rock banger that clocks in at 185 BPM; Super Elastic, a cinematic dance-pop track; and Curtains, a waltz backed by a string quartet. She's also recorded a cover of The Cranberries' Zombie, reimagined as a dark-pop ballad.
Behind the scenes, she's worked with producer CJ Baran, who has produced for Marina, Melanie Martinez, and Nessa Barrett. That connection to the more polished, high-production side of pop sits right alongside the string quartets and the 185 BPM indie rock, so the set should pull from a few different moods. If you're familiar with her recordings, you'll recognize the range: the disco strings of The Holy Trinity, the cinematic dance-pop of Super Elastic, and the dark-pop take on Zombie all coming from the same artist.
