Celtic folk trio House of Hamill plays Natalie's Grandview in the Trad Nua Concert Series, with food and drink available.
House of Hamill plays Natalie's Grandview on Friday, October 23, as part of the Trad Nua Concert Series. They're a Philadelphia-based Celtic folk trio, and the show is also part of the venue's Happening Hour series, which means food and drink are available before and during the set.
The group formed when Rose Baldino and Brian Buchanan first met in 2014 at the Folk Alliance International conference in Kansas City. After they added bassist Caroline Browning, their version of "Pound a Week Rise" hit number one on the US Folk DJ charts, and an all-violin cover of "Sweet Child O' Mine" picked up more than 16 million views on Facebook. Their album Folk Hero is the third House of Hamill record funded entirely by their fans.
Their sound mixes original jigs, reimagined folk ballads, and three-part harmonies. Between the viral hits and the festival stages they've played, they've built a reputation for that particular blend of traditional folk and a more contemporary, harmony-driven approach. The set will draw from that range—the jigs, the ballads, and the vocal work that ties them together.
