Tony Hagood Trio Debut Album Release

Tony Hagood and his trio are playing Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge on Saturday, October 24, to celebrate the release of his debut album, In Hagood Time. It's a record of jazz standards, and the night is built around it, with copies available to pick up before and after the show. The trio is the main feature, and the album is the reason for the date.

Hagood is a pianist, composer, and educator from Westerville, Ohio, and a 2010 graduate of Capital University. He's a familiar name in the local scene: he curates and directs the long-running jazz concert series at the Columbus Museum of Art, following in the footsteps of his late teacher Mark Flugge and his late Otterbein colleague Richard Lopez. He also runs a residency at Ginger Rabbit, where his trio has sold out both sets every fourth Friday for more than two and three-quarter years.

Beyond the local circuit, he's worked with a wide range of names. He's performed with Grammy winners Tamika Lawrence and LeAnn Rimes, platinum-selling artists Nas and the Violent Femmes, and Broadway performers Shayna Steele, Chester Gregory, and Joshua Henry. He's also played with the Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Chautauqua symphony orchestras. Outside the stage, he serves as sanctuary music director at Hilliard United Methodist Church and owns Noteworthy Music and A Note Above the Rest Entertainment.

The show runs from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge, 17 Buttles Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215. Tickets are $30.
