Chuck Starr

Chuck Starr plays Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge on Saturday, October 31, with two sets throughout the evening. Starr is a soulful vocalist who blends R&B, soul, and jazz into a single live performance, and he'll be the sole feature on the bill.

His set draws on a smooth mix of those three styles, and he describes the result as an intimate live experience. He leans on rich vocals and an effortless charisma, with an elegant, heartfelt performance style that lets him work through both timeless classics and more modern favorites. It's the kind of night that works just as well if you're there for the standards as it does if you're looking for something a bit more current.

Ginger Rabbit is a Columbus venue that books jazz and soul acts, and this particular night is split into two sets. The first runs from 7:15 to 8:45 PM, with doors opening at 6:45 PM. The second goes from 9:30 to 11 PM, with doors opening at 9 PM. You can catch either one or stick around for both. Tickets are $30, and the show is 21+.

If you're planning to be there, keep in mind that the doors open well ahead of each set, so you've got plenty of time to get settled before the music starts. The venue is at 17 Buttles Ave. in Columbus.
