A full-length, completely improvised musical built on a title chosen by the audience, performed by local improvisers and musicians.
TBD: The Improvised Musical! is back at The Hashtag Comedy Club on Friday, November 20, for a full-length musical built from scratch on the spot. The whole thing is improvised, and the starting point comes from the audience: you give them a title, and they build a complete show around it. It's a rotating cast of musical improvisers from across Central Ohio, so the people on stage change from night to night.
The show leans on big ensemble numbers, heart-wrenching solos, showstoppers, and moving love songs, with a rotating cast of local musicians who become characters in their own right. Fans have called it "pure magic," and that's a fair way to describe it—watching a full musical take shape in real time, with the songs and the story coming together as they go. This particular cast includes Sarah Storer, Sheree Evans, Alex Dodge, Alex Lefeld, Katie Lynn Drown, Shannon Poulsen, Chris Heiberger, Nathaniel Stevens, Peter Scalabrino, Brandon Boring, Ashley Woodard, and Candice Oates.
It's produced by The Hashtag Comedy Company, a professional organization that's been bringing comedy entertainment, education, and experiences to the Columbus area for over a decade. They've got a long history of putting on shows like this around town, and this is one of their regulars. If you want to keep up with the cast and see updates on future shows, they post over at @tbdimprovmusical on Instagram.
