Robert Dove Quintet

Robert Dove Quintet plays Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge on Wednesday, October 28, with their debut album, Paradigm Shift, at the center of the night. Robert Dove is a Columbus native, and this is his quintet bringing his jazz to the Short North.

The venue is a cocktail and jazz room at 17 Buttles Avenue, and it leans into a moody, speakeasy vibe with a hidden entrance on Buttles. They serve small plates alongside the music and run a regular program of local jazz acts, like the Dave Shelton Trio and the Sonic Visions Quartet, so this fits right into the room's usual rotation. It's the kind of spot where you can grab a drink and a few plates and let the set run around you.

There are two sets on the bill, so you've got a choice of when to drop in. The first runs from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, with doors opening at 5:30. The second is from 8:15 to 9:45 PM, with doors at 7:45. If you're coming for the early set, you'll be in and out before the night really gets going; the later one puts you right in the middle of the evening. Both are $10.
