Members-only, curator-led tour of the 'Queer Constellations' photography exhibition, followed by refreshments.
Kaitlin Booher is leading a tour of Queer Constellations: Photographs from the Aronowitz Family Collection at the Columbus Museum of Art on Thursday, October 22, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's a members-only event for Queer Moderns, so you'll need to be part of that group to join in.
The tour itself is a walk through Queer Constellations, a multi-generational presentation of queer histories and artists drawn from the Aronowitz Family Collection. Booher is the William and Sarah Ross Soter Associate Curator of Photography and one of the show's co-curators, so she's one of the people who actually put the exhibition together. Having her lead the walk means you'll get the inside story on how the show was built and the context behind the images, rather than just reading the wall text on your own.
One of the pieces you'll see is George Hoyningen-Huene's Horst, Torso, Paris, 1931, a platinum-palladium print on loan from the George Hoyningen-Huene Estate Archive. That's a good example of the kind of work the collection pulls together—photography that spans different eras and voices, all tied back to queer history. The tour is a guided walk through the gallery, and once it wraps up, there are refreshments to hang out with.
