Family-friendly ProMusica library concerts and storytime sessions at the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library, pairing classical music with children's literature.
ProMusica is bringing its family-friendly library concerts back to the Columbus Metropolitan Library for a new run of shows. The series is performed by the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, and rather than sticking to one spot, they're playing at library branches across the region over the next few months.
Each concert is built around a particular musical theme, pairing classical works with children's literature. To go with the music, there's a display of books and stories that fit the theme, so it's as much about the reading as it is about the listening. If you've got little ones, the series also includes ProMusica Storytimes for preschoolers—free programs where the musicians co-host alongside the librarians, mixing music and books with interactive activities.
The schedule is spread out across the city, so you can catch them at a branch that's close to you. The first is Sunday, October 18, at 2 PM at the Columbus Metropolitan Library - Main Library (96 S Grant Ave, Columbus, OH 43215). After that, they're at the Upper Arlington Public Library - Tremont Road (2800 Tremont Rd, Upper Arlington, OH 43221) on Sunday, January 17, at 3 PM. The next is Sunday, February 7, at 3 PM at the CML Hilliard Branch (4500 Hickory Chase Way, Hilliard, OH 43026). Then it's Saturday, March 6, at 2 PM at Southwest Public Libraries - Grove City Library (3959 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123), and finally Sunday, April 18, at 2 PM at Westerville Public Library (126 S State St, Westerville, OH 43081).
