Progressive metalcore band Paledusk from Japan plays Ace of Cups with Headwreck, Slow Degrade and Short Short.
Paledusk play Ace of Cups on Saturday, October 24, with Headwreck, Slow Degrade and Short Short opening. It's a full bill, so the music starts early in the afternoon.
If you haven't come across them, Paledusk is a progressive metalcore band from Fukuoka, Japan, and they've been active since 2015. The lineup is a five-piece: vocalist Kaito, guitarists Daisuke and Tsubasa, bassist Kazuki and drummer Seiya. That progressive tag does a lot of the heavy lifting—they're known for shifting gears mid-song, mixing heavy sections with a lot of technical, off-kilter movement. It's the kind of metalcore that keeps you on your toes rather than just leaning into the breakdowns.
They've spent the last decade building a name in the Japanese scene. They played BLARE FEST, hosted by the band coldrain, and were part of the Across the Future tour sponsored by Crossfaith. They're also on the bill for the Japanese leg of Knotfest, Slipknot's annual music festival, so they're playing alongside some of the biggest names in the genre. This Columbus stop is one of the dates they're bringing that sound to the US.

With Headwreck, Slow Degrade and Short Short on the bill, there's plenty of music to work through before Paledusk takes the stage. The show is at Ace of Cups, 2619 N High St, and it kicks off at 5 PM.
