Indie rock project mercury, the project of Maddie Kerr, plays Newport Music Hall in Columbus, opening for holywtr.
mercury plays Newport Music Hall on Monday, October 19, opening for holywtr. It's part of a North American tour that's working its way through Canada and the U.S. and won't wrap up until November, when it hits The Fonda in Los Angeles.
mercury is the indie rock project of Nashville-based artist Maddie Kerr. She produces with Alex Farrar, who has worked with Wednesday, MJ Lenderman, and Merce Lemon. The set will draw from her latest single, "Roar Of The Heliac Goat," released through Big Loud Rock, as well as the 2023 singles "Trying" and "Woolgathering" and the late-2024 Swarm The Hive Mind EP. If you've been following her since those early singles, this is a chance to hear them live alongside the newer material.
Kerr's work has caught the attention of Stereogum, Rolling Stone, Paste, Kerrang!, and Billboard. She's pointed to Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" as a formative influence, and that particular kind of slow-burn, atmospheric indie rock is a good place to start if you're not already familiar with her sound. The tour is taking her across the continent, and the Columbus stop is one of the dates on that run.
